2007-2008 Honda Odyssey Recalled for Braking Problems

It is reported that Honda recalls 2007-2008 Honda Odyssey in US due to braking problems. There are 344,000 minivans found to have error on stability control system that make this car brake without warning, although there are no injuries or crashes reported by US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, NHTSA. The recall will start at March 2014 because Honda lacks of parts.

There is malfunction on software and braking components that make this minivan suddenly brake hard without turning on braking lights. Honda received many warranty claims related this issue. It will increase the crash from behind particularly in traffic jam. Some complaints state that there is trouble code on sensor of steering angle and vehicle speed to drop 30 miles/hour.

On Honda press release, the treatment for error on Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) system software will be free of charge. This system cannot deliver complete calibration on hydraulic pressure and the high pressure is released into brake circuit system so unexpected heavy brake is occurred. How about other Odyssey cars outside USA?

In Indonesia and Japan, the type of Odyssey is different to US so there is no problem on braking system and performance that makes it is not necessary to recall these minivans. If you own 2007-2008 Honda Odyssey, you can visit recalls.honda.com or call (800) 999-1009 option 4 to find complete details on calibration of VSA system so you can determine whether your vehicle is included or not on the recall issues. Fortunately, the same problems won't found on 2014 Honda Odyssey.
